Live(In) Gallery celebrates its first year in the Brighton district of Cincinnati with a solo show by Co-Curator Molly Donnermeyer, Push-ups Ain’t Pretty
March 7 - 31, 2015 Opening reception: Saturday, March 7th, 7:00 - 10:00 pm What a difference a year makes, Live(In) Gallery, presents Push-ups Ain’t Pretty, a solo show, featuring work by Molly Donnermeyer, Co-Curator of Live(In) Gallery. In this one woman show Donnermeyer creates photographic work and site-specific installations for each room of her home. These meditations are alternately subtle and secretive, autobiographical and confessional, humorous and serious, delicate and hindering. Live(In) Gallery is an alternative arts space in Cincinnati, Ohio. Live(In) exhibits emerging and established artists with an emphasis on experimental, ephemeral, and collaborative works presented in a domestic setting. Molly Donnermeyer is a visual artist whose work consists of photography, found object installations, and sculptures. Her work often strikes at the relationship between rituals, performances, and process-based art. Subtly iconoclastic and feminist, the figures depicted in her images find themselves occasionally in the throes of crises in mundane domestic settings that call for physical reactions to both internal and external tensions. She is a graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati holding a BFA in Fine Arts. She has participated in exhibitions at local venues such as ArtWorks Gallery, Chidlaw Gallery, CS13, semantics, Creative, U · turn Art Space, Thunder-Sky, and Hobohaus. She was a founding member of the now defunct art venue U · turn Art Space in Brighton. As well as mounting gallery exhibitions, Donnermeyer is currently in the process of earning her MLIS at Kent State University. Molly moved to Brighton in 2011 into the apartment that is now Live(In) Gallery. http://www.mollydonnermeyerarts.com/ Please come celebrate the opening of Push-ups Ain’t Pretty and the one year anniversary of Live(In) Gallery on Saturday, March 7th!
